Originally developed for the stage, GRIOT invites listeners on a journey from Senegal to Brazil to the American South, tracing the role of the griot as a keeper of history, lineage, and community. Through layered compositions, spoken text, and live instrumentation, the album reflects the emotional and cultural arc of the performance — from struggle and encounter to reflection and collective experience.
